Palm Springs’ annual Modernism Week returns Feb. 13 through 23, featuring more than 500 events celebrating midcentury modern architecture and design. The 11-day festival includes numerous free and low-cost programs, making it accessible to a wide range of attendees.
Among the free exhibitions is the new Trini Lopez Museum, open Feb. 13 through 17 and 19 through 23 at the Village Green Heritage Center at 219 South Palm Canyon Dr.. The museum celebrates the life and legacy of the iconic folk-rock musician and Latino cultural trailblazer, featuring costumes, guitars, awards, and gold records.

On Feb. 19, modernist enthusiasts can experience a new Breeze Block garden in Palm Desert at no cost. The following days, Feb. 21 and 22, offer free tours of the Modernism Art District, where visitors can explore artists’ studios and learn about midcentury-era influences on their work.
Car enthusiasts won’t want to miss the free Modernism Week Vintage Car Show on Feb. 17. More than 50 vehicles from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s will be on display at the Palm Springs Convention Center, curated under the theme “Bikinis & Bucket Seats” as a tribute to 1960s California youth culture.
The popular Modernism Yard Sale returns on Feb. 23, allowing visitors to shop vintage items from local midcentury collectors at no cost.
For those willing to spend a bit more, several low-cost tours and events are available.
The Modernism Week Featured Home Tours, priced at $40, offer access to significant architectural residences. The West House, previously owned by actor Adam West of Batman fame, showcases a recent remodel by Michelle Boudreau Design. Another tour features the Sackley Chase Sensation, a 1976 residence designed by architect Stan Sackley and decorated by Steve Chase.
The 25th Annual Palm Springs Modernism Show, running Feb. 15 through 17, costs $30 for a three-day pass. The event features 138 premier national and international dealers offering the best of midcentury and modern design.
Film enthusiasts can enjoy several screenings, including the world premiere of “THE HARVARD 5: a story of love, architecture, and a design revolution” on Feb. 15. The documentary explores the work of five groundbreaking architects who sparked a modern design revolution in New Canaan, Conn.
Dr. Raymond Neutra, son of famed architect Richard Neutra, will deliver the keynote presentation “Survival Through Design” on Feb. 15. General admission tickets are $35, with a VIP reception option available for $100.
Several talks explore the legacies of renowned architects and designers. On Feb. 18, “An Evening with the Daughters of Design: Bertoia, Eames, and Saarinen” brings together descendants of design icons to share stories and memorabilia for $25.
