Modernism Week sets schedule for October festival in Palm Springs
Organizers say the four-day event will introduce new evening entertainment options, including curated dinners, social gatherings and a wine tasting, alongside returning tours and talks.
Modernism Week announced the schedule for its October festival, set to run Oct. 15-18 in the Palm Springs area with more than 50 activities focused on midcentury modern architecture, art and design.
The four-day October gathering is smaller than the organization’s 11-day festival held each February, according to the announcement. The full schedule was made available online at modernismweek.com last week, and tickets go on sale Saturday (Aug. 1) at 12 pm.

“Modernism Week – October continues to feature a full, four-day event schedule which includes many new and unique activities that are produced exclusively for this Fall festival,” said Lisa Vossler Smith, CEO of Modernism Week. “I am very excited about our new curated events that will allow our guests to participate in dining, social, and exclusive wine tasting experiences.
“In addition, we are offering exciting new tours, including a first-ever Modernism Week produced tour of the famous Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. Of course, we are also bringing back many of the most popular tours and other activities from previous years.”
New for this year is a series of evening options, including the Modernism Week Fall Dining Series, a set of curated meals at five Palm Springs restaurants — Eight4Nine Restaurant & Lounge, Bar Issi, Trio Restaurant, King’s Highway and Mr. Lyons Steakhouse — priced between $120 and $230 per person.
Also new is Modernism Week After Dark, featuring late-night social events at Spirit Animal inside Hotel Zoso and the Amigo Room at Ace Hotel & Swim Club, and a wine tasting event called Modernism Week Wined-Up, held at Hall Winery and hosted by Vossler Smith.
Other new additions include a Charles Phoenix presentation titled “LOS ANGELESLAND,” a first-time tour of Blue Skies Village in Rancho Mirage, several home tours, a progressive dinner at the Cotino community, and a guided tour of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, described in the release as a collaboration between architects Albert Frey, who designed the Valley Station, and E. Stewart Williams, who designed the Mountain Station.
Returning offerings include the Premier Double Decker Architectural Bus Tour, additional themed bus tours, walking tours, home tours and the Palm Springs Modernism Fall Show, which will be held Oct. 17-18 at the Palm Springs Convention Center. A preview party for that show will take place Oct. 16, with tickets priced at $95 in advance and $110 at the door.
