Modernism Week’s four-day “mini” festival is returning to the desert this October, and tickets will soon be available for the fall event.
Attendees can choose from nearly 50 events held from Oct. 19 to 22, including neighborhood walking tours, double-decker bus tours and interesting lectures from a curated slate of guests and speakers.
“This year we are offering new tours and events and bringing back many of the most popular tours from previous years,” said Lisa Vossler Smith, the CEO of Modernism Week. “We locals and visitors alike enjoy the exciting lineup of home tours, iconic architecture and entertaining parties.”
Visitors might also notice six new events added to the calendar, like the “legendary Palm Springs commercial architecture bus tour,” which explores the city’s most iconic bank, hotel and civic buildings.
There are plenty of free and low-cost programs for attendees to enjoy and learn about mid-century modern architecture, art, interior and landscape design and vintage culture. And if tours and lectures aren’t your thing, there are mixology clinics, interactive music experiences and the Palm Springs Modernism Fall Show, where retailers and private dealers will showcase vintage clothing, jewelry and more.
Of course, once mini Modernism Week wraps up in October, it’ll be time to start planning for the signature festival in February. Tickets for the 11-day main event will go on sale on Nov. 1.
In the meantime, tickets for October’s mini Modernism Week go on sale on Aug. 1. A full list of the festival’s events can be found here.
