This year’s show, a more intimate version of the February Palm Springs Modernism Show, welcomes both new and returning dealers. Among the fresh faces are Jean Le Duc DX Studio from Napa, Modern Glass Studio of Van Nuys, Lawrence Schiller Photography from Sherman Oaks, and Vera Neumann Inc. of Austin, Texas.
Returning exhibitors include Amara Rugs of Torrance, Blue Heron Gallery of Fallbrook, Karo Studios of Glendale, and Tesselle of Riverside. Local Palm Springs dealers are also well-represented, with Route 66 West, Antique Galleries of Palm Springs, and CarlV-12: Photography by Carlos Vargas joining the lineup.
Rosemary Krieger, President of Dolphin Promotions, reflects on the show’s growth, saying, “Ten years ago, we first offered our wildly popular Palm Springs Modernism Show during the Fall Modernism Week Festival. What began as a small event in 2014 has now grown into a much-anticipated annual event itself and is beloved by attendees and dealers alike.”
The show kicks off with an Opening Night Party and Early Buying Preview Reception on Friday, Oct. 25. This exclusive event offers attendees the first opportunity to purchase directly from dealers before the public opening on Saturday. Tickets for the preview are available in advance for $95 or at the door for $110, including a wine reception with hors d’oeuvres, free parking, and daily re-entry to the show.
Weekend show hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27. General admission tickets are $25 and include return entry all weekend.
Special events at this year’s Fall Show include tours of two luxurious Airstream trailers provided by Airstream Inland Empire throughout the weekend. Additionally, two book signings are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 26, at noon. Grant Kirkpatrick and Duan Tran will sign copies of “Residing with Nature: The Houses of KAA Design,” while Erik Evens will autograph “Shaping the World as a Home: The Houses & Gardens of Erik Evens.”
The Palm Springs Modernism Fall Show has garnered support from various sponsors. Airstream Inland Empire serves as the Presenting Sponsor, with Bidsquare as the Silver Sponsor. Additional sponsors include Abell Auctions, Freightforwarding.com, and John Moran Auctioneer. Media Sponsors comprise Atomic Ranch, California Home & Design, California Homes, Incollect Magazine, and Palm Springs Life.
Krieger emphasizes the show’s unique appeal, stating, “The marriage of vintage 20th century items with 21st century designs has proven to be very successful and offers a wider appeal to our supporters in the Coachella Valley. We are thrilled to once again play a major role in Modernism Week – October.”
The Fall Show’s success is a testament to the enduring popularity of modernist design and the growing interest in contemporary art. By bringing together a curated selection of dealers and artists, the event offers a comprehensive look at the evolution of design from the mid-20th century to the present day.
For art collectors, interior designers, and enthusiasts of modernist aesthetics, the Palm Springs Modernism Fall Show presents an unparalleled opportunity to explore, appreciate, and acquire pieces that span decades of innovative design. From abstract art and midcentury modern classics to contemporary glass and vintage Bakelite jewelry, the show promises a diverse and exciting array of offerings.
