Townie Bagels was named Business of the Year, while Michael and Ernie Westman — known for their work with GED Magazine, Montage Events, Cathedral City Days and Equality Wine Fest — were selected as Business People of the Year.
The Boys and Girls Club of Palm Springs was recognized as the Outstanding Community Service Organization, and Julie Warren, associated with LGBTQ+ History & Archives of the Desert, Palm Springs Library and Palm Springs Speaks, was named Outstanding Community Service Leader.
The DBA will also recognize LGBTQ+ youth scholarship recipients through its partnership with Safe Schools Desert Cities. All honorees were nominated by community members and selected based on their leadership, service and commitment to strengthening LGBTQ+ and allied communities throughout the Coachella Valley.
“Each of these recipients has made a lasting impact on our community,” said David Powell, DBA executive director. “From supporting local nonprofits and youth, to preserving our history and promoting inclusion, they represent the very best of what our valley stands for.”
The evening will also include a performance by local vocalist Marisa Corvo, who appeared on NBC’s The Voice and has been involved in supporting community organizations.
