Architectural Review Committee, Monday, 5:30 p.m.
The Architectural Review Committee meets at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the Large Conference Room at City Hall to consider updated plans for a 3,886-square-foot In-N-Out Burger with a drive-thru at 1801 East Palm Canyon Drive.
The proposal has been revised since the Planning Commission last reviewed it in July 2025, with additional landscaping and shade, expanded screening around the drive-thru lane and stricter traffic controls. City staff said the design changes are sufficient to support approval, though they recommend further refinements.
The committee will also review plans for a 2,749-square-foot home on a hillside lot at 2700 North Vista Grande.
Waste Reduction Subcommittee, Tuesday, 1 p.m.
The Waste Reduction Subcommittee convenes at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Development Services Conference Room to continue shaping draft policy goals. Those include a “no single-use bottles” rule for certain events, a business compliance program and a “resource-smart” designation for short-term rentals.
The subcommittee will also receive updates on the recent Fix It Fare event, annual bin contamination audits and waste reduction work at public gatherings.
Historic Site Preservation Board, Tuesday, 5:30 p.m.
The Historic Site Preservation Board meets at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and will hold a public hearing on an application seeking historic site designation for the Burgess Residence at 550 Palisades Dr. The staff recommendation is for City Council approval of the property as a Class 1 historic site.
The board will also consider a request from the city of Palm Springs for a Certificate of Appropriateness to demolish two structures at the Town and Country Center, a Class 1 site located at 171 and 181 North Indian Canyon Drive. Staff recommend approving the request with conditions.
Climate Action Subcommittee, Wednesday, 1 p.m.
The Climate Action Subcommittee meets at 1 p.m. Wednesday, also in the Development Services Conference Room, to discuss preparations for an Extreme Heat Summit set for Sept. 18 at the Palm Springs Convention Center. Members will review the city’s climate action plans and continue developing a work plan tied to greenhouse gas reduction goals.
City Council, Wednesday, 5:30 p.m.
The City Council will hold a closed session at 2 p.m. Wednesday to discuss a potential land deal involving 10.32 acres near Ramon Road, with PSP Airport LP as the other party in the negotiation over price and terms.
In open session at 5:30 p.m., the council will consider construction contracts for South Palm Canyon Drive and Racquet Club Road, valued at $2.21 million and $2.7 million, respectively. Other items include a $449,125 armored police vehicle purchase, a $6.3 million increase to the convention center’s design contract and a new hangar lease with the Palm Springs Air Museum.
Council members will also weigh a citywide palm tree trimming policy tied to a $300,000 budget appropriation, the first reading of an ordinance addressing cannabis consumption lounges, adoption of the city’s legislative platform and a report from an ad hoc subcommittee on the mayoral position.
Public hearings are scheduled for two historic site designations, covering the Laurence Harvey Residence and Temple Isaiah.
