As temperatures climb in Palm Springs, so do power bills. But there’s relief in sight for those who need assistance.
Driving the news: Southern California Edison (SCE) has multiple programs available for qualified customers, including one that offers free energy-saving upgrades to homes, whether owned or rented.
- The Residential Direct Install program offers energy saving products and services that optimize air conditioning operation, efficiency, and comfort.
- The Energy Savings Assistance (ESA) program provides income-qualified customers energy-efficient appliances at no charge or at a minimal charge.
Details: To qualify for the install program you must rent or own a single-family home and have an active SCE service account. Products and services available may include a smart thermostat, electronic fan delay controller, duct testing and sealing, and more. For the ESA program, customers must meet specific household income guidelines or participate in one of the eligible public assistance programs.
- For example, a household of one person could qualify if household income is $36,450 or less. A household of four people could qualify if combined income is $75,000 or less.
Zoom out: Need help paying your bill? That’s available as well. SCE offers everything from regular discounts to one-time assistance up to $200 to help offset higher than expected bills. Customers with a past due balance may also qualify for a 12-month repayment plan.
