Palm Springs residents will have multiple opportunities to weigh in on city issues this week, as a series of community workshops bookend several board and commission meetings at City Hall.

The week begins Monday with two public events. From 4 to 6 p.m., the Palm Springs Fire Department will host an open house at Fire Station No. 1, 277 North Indian Canyon Drive, to gather feedback on early plans to modernize the aging facility. Officials say the historic station no longer meets current safety standards, and community input will help shape conceptual designs.

Later that evening, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., the city will hold a workshop at the James O. Jessie Desert Highland Unity Center on the drafted Tramview Heights Specific Plan, inviting residents to discuss proposed updates.

Also Monday, the Small Hotel Tourism Business Improvement District Advisory Board meets at 2 p.m. at City Hall to receive updates from the Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism and discuss marketing and nonprofit matters.

At 5:30 p.m., the Parks & Recreation Commission will hear presentations on the Palm Springs Parks Foundation, “50 Years of Sunrise. A Year of PLAY,” and upcoming special events.

On Tuesday, the Planning Commission will consider two tentative tract maps for 94 total lots within the Escena development and a proposed 19,347-square-foot medical office building at 1199 North Indian Canyon Drive that will replace the American Reproductive Center facility that was torn down after a bombing in May 2025.

The City Council meets Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., following a closed session at 3:30 p.m. The council will review the city’s fiscal year 2024-25 audit reports, receive a mid-year budget update and consider an ordinance regulating vehicle sales activity in the public right-of-way.

The week concludes Thursday with a Community Traffic Safety Workshop from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Palm Springs Police Department Training Center (200 South Civic Dr.), where residents can review local traffic data and offer ideas to reduce collisions.
