Police have cleared the scene of a suspicious circumstance report regarding a man with a gun in his lap at a business in Palm Springs Tuesday afternoon.

The Palm Springs Police Department advised the public around 3:30 PM to avoid the 600 block of South Palm Canyon Drive due to heavy police activity in the area.

According to Lt. William Hutchinson, police were on the scene because workers at the unidentified business reported a man with a gun on his lap sitting inside.

A SWAT team was dispatched to secure the area and make an entry into the business to see if the suspect was still inside or was roaming the neighborhood, Hutchinson said.

Police lifted all street closures at 5:30 PM and cleared the scene stating that no one was found inside the location and that there was no known threat to the public.
