Police investigating hit and run death release information on suspect vehicle

For the second time in less than a week a pedestrian has died on the streets of Palm Springs. The latest incident is being reported as a hit and run.

The news: On social media Friday morning, Palm Springs Police said that at around 6:40 a.m. they received several reports regarding a pedestrian lying on the dirt shoulder of the roadway near the area of East Palm Canyon Drive and South Broadmoor Drive. Officers arrived at the scene and determined the subject was deceased and the victim of a hit and run vehicle collision.

  • Police closed off the area and diverted traffic. The roadway reopened around 2 p.m.

Police say a Porsche 911 Carrera may have been involved in a hit and run last week.

Need leads: Police said they have very few details about the incident, but did report investigators are looking for a red 2012-2016 Porsche 911 Carrera.

  • The victim has not been identified.
  • Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information which may aid police in their investigation is urged to contact the PSPD Traffic Division at 760-323-8125. Anonymous information can also be provided to Crime Stoppers at 760-347-7867.

Another death: On May 22 a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in the 800 block of North Sunrise Way and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The driver of the vehicle that struck him remained at the scene. Police do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in that incident.
