Palm Springs meetings this week include budget vote, major contracts and vacation rental changes

Palm Springs city meetings this week include budget adoption, major infrastructure spending decisions, vacation rental ordinance changes and a Small Hotel tourism district assessment.
The City Council’s Wednesday agenda is the week’s heaviest. Councilmembers will consider a fiscal year 2026-27 continuation budget for the General Fund and Airport Fund, along with a large slate of professional services contracts tied to infrastructure and the Convention Center expansion. The council also will hold a closed session at 3:30 p.m. to discuss labor negotiations with four employee groups and six litigation matters before the public session opens at 5:30 p.m.

Here’s a look at the meetings scheduled this week:
Small Hotel Tourism Business Improvement District Advisory Board (Monday, 2 p.m.)
The advisory board meets at 2 p.m. at City Hall, 3200 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way. The agenda includes a report from the Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism and Greater Palm Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau, along with updates on agency, public relations, media and website activity. The board also will discuss nonprofit engagement.
Parks & Recreation Commission (Monday, 5:30 p.m.)
The commission meets at 5:30 p.m. at Demuth Community Center, 3601 E. Mesquite Ave. Commissioners will receive presentations on upcoming special events and the Camp Palm Springs program. Ad-hoc committee reports are scheduled on the dog park, golf, the parks master plan, pickleball and the swim center.
VillageFest Board (Tuesday, 5:30 p.m.)
The board meets at 5:30 p.m. in the Large Conference Room, 3200 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way. Six vendor and participant applications are on the legislative action calendar: The Lemonade Stand for handcrafted food service, Hix Soaps & Co. for handmade personal care products, Solevi for jewelry and paintings, Masry Custom T-Shirt for custom printed apparel, Shriners Hospital for a nonprofit entertainer slot, and Waykey for a re-jury of handmade goods including weavings, accessories and small collectibles. Staff also will present the 2025-26 marketing strategy and a review of board rules and regulations.
City Council (Wednesday, 5:30 p.m.)
The council meets at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber, 3200 East Tahquitz Canyon Way, following a closed session. The open session includes public hearings on the annual levy for street lighting and parkway maintenance districts citywide for fiscal year 2026-27, and on the Small Hotel Tourism Business Improvement District assessment for 2026-27.
The council will consider a first reading of an ordinance amending the city’s vacation rental regulations and incorporating California’s Short Term Rental Facilitator Act of 2025.
Major items on the consent calendar include a $4.15 million agreement with Accenture for owner’s representative services on the Convention Center renovation, three on-call architectural design agreements worth up to $5 million each, and a five-year food and beverage contract with OVG Hospitality at the Convention Center.
The council also will vote on a Teamsters Local 1932 labor agreement covering July 2026 through June 2027 and discuss the structure of the city’s mayoral position.
