During a two-hour meeting that saw multiple speeches by incoming and outgoing councilmembers, a packed Council Chambers gave new Mayor Grace Garner a standing ovation.

Her willingness to stand up and stick out – even if she doesn’t ultimately win – comes as no surprise to those who know Grace Garner, who will be appointed mayor this evening.

A majority of elected officials expressed support Monday for slight expansion of the area where sexually oriented businesses could open, as well as modifications to language contained in the current ordinance.
