The LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert is expanding its footprint and services with the acquisition of over 33,000 square feet of land, thanks to a donation from Arnie Kassoy.

The newly acquired property, located across the street from the Center’s current McDonald Wright building in the 1300 block of North Palm Canyon Drive, will become the Arnold Kassoy Campus of The LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert. The land has frontage on both Palm Canyon and Indian Canyon Drives in Palm Springs, California.

“The Center’s core purpose is making meaningful connections, and Arnie’s visionary gift guarantees our LGBTQ+ desert community will continue connecting to the people and resources needed to thrive for years to come,” said Mike Thompson, CEO of The Center, as he emphasized the importance of the acquisition in a recent news release.

This expansion comes as The Center continues to grow its services across the Coachella Valley. From its main location in Palm Springs to The Center Coachella, the organization offers a wide range of programs aimed at supporting the LGBTQ+ community.

These services include the Scott Hines Behavioral Health Clinic and a Community Food Bank, reflecting The Center’s commitment to addressing both mental health and basic needs within the community.

The new Arnold Kassoy Campus will allow The Center to further expand its operations, enhance existing programs, and serve a larger number of beneficiaries. It also provides the flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of the LGBTQ+ community over time.

While the specific plans for the new campus have not been announced, the acquisition provides The Center with numerous opportunities for growth and innovation. The additional space could allow for the creation of new facilities such as meeting rooms, event spaces, or specialized clinics.
