Mayor Jeffrey Bernstein, City Manager Scott Stiles, City Attorney Jeff Ballinger, and Police Chief Andy Mills are slated to attend the meeting. The gathering aims to foster dialogue between residents and city officials, allowing community members to share their perspectives and receive updates on the city’s safety measures.
In announcing the meeting Tuesday, and in recent social media postings, Mills emphasizes the city’s commitment to security and inclusivity.
“I want to reassure our residents that Palm Springs remains one of the most inclusive and secure communities in the nation,” Mills wrote. “While there are no serious or credible threats to our community at this time, we remain vigilant and committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone in Palm Springs.”
The meeting comes as part of Palm Springs’ ongoing efforts to protect its diverse communities, including LGBTQ+, Jewish, Muslim, and other marginalized groups. City leaders and the Palm Springs Police Department are working in collaboration with local, state, and federal agencies to maintain the city’s status as a symbol of hope and inclusivity.
During the event, officials plan to outline current safety measures, including the expansion of technology and proactive law enforcement strategies aimed at preventing violence. These initiatives are part of the city’s broader commitment to maintaining a safe environment where residents can live authentically and without fear.
The community meeting also serves as an opportunity for the city to maintain transparency and community engagement. Residents are encouraged to attend, share their concerns, and hear directly from city leadership about ongoing efforts to preserve Palm Springs’ values of safety, inclusivity, and optimism.
The event will take place in Room Oasis 3A of the Convention Center. Doors will open at 3:30 p.m., with the meeting beginning promptly at 4 p.m.
