Three charity pickleball tournaments in city this month
Local causes will benefit from a month of competitive play being planned by police officers, firefighters, and members of the local hospitality association. The first tournament is scheduled for this weekend.

Palm Springs is set to become a pickleball paradise this month as three different charity tournaments take over the city’s courts, offering residents and visitors alike the chance to play for good causes.
The Palm Springs Fire Foundation kicks off the month with its tournament Saturday at the Kimpton Rowan pickleball courts. The event aims to support injured Orange County Fire Authority Hand Crew members and San Diego Rescuers who responded to Hurricane Helene.

The Fire Foundation’s tournament offers flexible participation options, allowing players to sign up individually or as a team. All games will be doubles, with players categorized by skill level as beginner, intermediate, or advanced.
Entry fees range from $25 (solo) to $50 (team). You can find out more and enter the tournament by going here.
The Palm Springs Hospitality Association (PSHA) follows with its own inaugural tournament on Nov. 16 at Demuth Park. Event organizers are promising an action-packed day of competition, charity, and celebrity match highlights, starting at 9 a.m. and lasting until 4 p.m.
A highlight of the PSHA tournament will be a celebrity match featuring Palm Springs Chief of Police Andy Mills facing off against Kim Jagd, a star player for the Coachella Valley Scorpions in the National Pickleball League (NPL). Jagd, who also serves as general manager and co-owner of the Scorpions alongside actor Vince Vaughn, is expected to bring high-energy play to the match.
The PSHA tournament will benefit the association’s scholarship fund and the Boys & Girls Club of Palm Springs, with all proceeds supporting local youth and community programs.
“We’re encouraging everyone to come out, whether you’re a player or a fan,” said Kelly McLean, who is chairing the tournament. “This event is a great way to give back to the community, enjoy some competitive pickleball, and cheer on our local celebrities.”
Registration fees for the event vary. More information can be found here.
The Palm Springs Police Department concludes the month of competitive giving with its inaugural “Paddles for a Cause” tournament on Nov. 23. The event, also being held at the new courts at the Kimpton Rowan Hotel in Downtown Palm Springs, will raise funds for the department’s annual “Shop with a Cop” initiative.
“One hundred percent of the funds raised goes directly towards creating a positive holiday experience for deserving children by pairing them with local officers for a special shopping day on Dec. 14,” a spokesperson said.
The action gets underway at 8 a.m., with check-in starting at 7 a.m. Entry fees for the tournament are $50. More information about the tournament is available here.
