The victim identified a known suspect, who had fled into a nearby commercial unit. Officers established containment around the location and began attempting to make contact.
After multiple attempts to communicate with the suspect failed, investigators obtained a search warrant to enter the property. Upon entry, they found the suspect dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The identity of the suspect is expected to be released by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.
West San Rafael Dr. remains closed as the investigation continues. An Everbridge alert will be issued when the roadway is reopened.
