Palm Springs parks commission approves golf fee increase, redesigned Ruth Hardy Park workout pad
Resident rates at Tahquitz Creek’s two city-owned courses would rise about 9%, or $1 to $6 per round. The revised workout pad design heads next to the City Council.

The Palm Springs Parks & Recreation Commission met Monday to consider an increase to the city’s golf course fees and to hear updates on ongoing parks projects across the city.
The commission approved an updated design for a planned workout pad in Ruth Hardy Park. The commission approved a previous design, and it went to the City Council more than a year ago. But the project ran into “a few hiccups,” according to city staff, and a redesigned version returned to the commission.

The workout pad would have a cushioned floor set under a blue shade awning, covering a total space of 60 by 100 feet.
Once completed, the pad will be available for rent for events such as yoga and other workout classes. It will be open to the public when not rented. The project will next return to the City Council for approval.
The commission also approved an increase to resident golf fees on the city-owned Resort and Legend courses at Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort.
The increases apply to the dynamic pricing used at the two courses, which varies by course, time of year and number of rounds played. Overall, the changes represent an approximate 9% increase, according to city staff.
Staff described the change as a “modest increase” of about $1 to $6 per round, depending on the season and course. The price of an annual resident discount card would also increase by $4 annually.
Commissioners asked whether non-resident fees, which the city does not set, have been rising by similar percentages. They ultimately approved the new fees, with a recommendation that the city look into whether it can gather more feedback on the rest of the course’s fee structure.
