Oct. 16 Daily Briefing: ‘Bright star’ in city passes, big speech coming, gunfire leads to arrest, and more

In today’s Daily Briefing we tell you about the passing of actress, businesswoman, author, and local philanthropist Suzanne Somers, the upcoming State of the City, events to put on your radar, and much more.

Welcome to Monday, everyone.ย If you didnโ€™t catch a view of the โ€œannularโ€ solar eclipse over the weekend, you for sure saw several of your neighbors posting their images on social media. This type of eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, but when it is at or near its farthest point from Earth, creating a viewable โ€œring of fireโ€ in some states (but not here). Didnโ€™t get enough of the cool pictures? Check out some thatย Space.com posted here.
