Meet Kathleen Strukoff

Every Sunday we introduce you to people in our community who are making a difference. This week we invite you to meet an artist whose broad brush strokes help tell the story of our past.

The people who make Palm Springs like no place else

With Modernism Week Fall Preview in full swing this weekend, you no doubt have seen the subjects of Kathleen Strukoff’s art. If you venture over to the Modernism Show & Sale at the Palm Springs Convention Center, which ends today, you may meet the artist herself. Strukoff, known as “The Palm Springs Pop Up Painter,” has recently been delighting residents of the city and fans of modernism with paintings of some of our most iconic homes and buildings. She uses a combination of palette knife and vigorous brushwork with bold colors to express her translation of the scene, painting “alla prima” (at first attempt) all over town. Get to know her below, and check out her website here.
