Former U.S. Senator Al Franken is good enough, smart enough, and dog-gone it hopes people like him enough to attend a talk he’s giving in Palm Springs in March.
Driving the news: Franken is the first speaker in the relaunched “Palm Springs Speaks” series put on by The Friends of the Palm Springs Library. The organization announced Monday that series will begin again with Franken’s appearance on March 31.
- The talk, taking place at the Richards Center for the Arts at Palm Springs High School, begins at 7 p.m. It will be followed by a short question and answer session. A VIP reception begins at 6 p.m.
- Tickets range from $35 to $175 and can be purchased at palmspringsspeaks.org. All proceeds benefit the library.
Franken is a former “Saturday Night Live” cast member who went on to serve as a senator from Minnesota from 2009 until 2018. He resigned in 2018 after allegations of sexual misconduct were made against him.
Looking back: Previous speakers in the series include Jane Fonda, Bob Woodward, Vice President Al Gore, and Dame Joan Collins, among others.
