The desert’s version of Met Gala returns in person this year when the third annual BOO BALL takes place on October 30. The event benefits Boo2Bullying, a locally-based nonprofit organization founded by Dimitri Halkidis.
The Halloween party will be covered by Getty Images and held in the Korean-Vietnam hangar at the Palm Springs Air Museum, 745 N. Gene Autry Trail. The event will feature celebrity guests and exclusive musical performers and dancing, costume prizes, valet parking, ghoulish décor, sponsored lounge seating, themed bars, and catering by Lulu’s California Bistro.
Guests will start walking the “orange carpet” at 6 PM. Desert social ambassador and “Queen of Big Hair and High Heels” Bella da Ball will be emcee the event.
Musical performers include Jamie Miller (The Voice UK & Atlantic Records), KID BARON Band (Lead singer Jack Griffo also starred as Max Thunderman in the Nickelodeon series The Thundermans), Tristen Bankston (guitar), Blake Bergman (keyboard), Preston Huber (drums), Chris Bennett (Grammy-nominated American jazz singer-songwriter and popular desert entertainer), and Musical Theater University (MTU), which is based on the Rancho Mirage High School campus and provides advanced training and performance opportunities to youth throughout the Coachella Valley.
Proceeds from the event will underwrite Boo2Bullying’s anti-bullying programs in schools and on major social media platforms. The organization’s youth empowerment initiatives and video content provide outreach, mentoring, inspiration, and support for bullied youth and their families.
The organization strives to give children and teens the tools to foster a healthy self-image, learn to accept diversity, speak their truth, and positively impact those around them.
