Library foundation gearing up for fourth annual LGBTQ+ book festival — Pride on the Page
The Nov. 1 event will feature six author panels during the day and an evening fundraiser with “Glee” star Chris Colfer.

The Palm Springs Public Library Foundation will host its fourth annual Pride on the Page Book Festival on Nov. 1 at the Palm Springs Cultural Center.
The free daytime festival runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and requires registration, while a ticketed evening event featuring Chris Colfer will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Colfer, best known for his role as Kurt Hummel on “Glee,” will discuss his latest book “Roswell Johnson Saves the Galaxy” in conversation with Meredith Fine.

The daytime program will present six panels of LGBTQ+ and affirming authors discussing their books and related topics. This year’s format emphasizes smaller, more intimate conversations with no more than four authors on stage at any time.
“Each year this festival grows in popularity,” said Corey Roskin, author coordinator for the festival and Palm Springs Public Library Foundation board member. “Our community appreciates events like this, showcasing a wide variety of literary viewpoints, it’s part of what makes Palm Springs special.”
Panel discussions will cover topics including novel conversations, oral histories across the gender spectrum, new queer fiction, personal stories and poems, and publishing advice. A special panel will feature publishers discussing the process of getting published.
The evening fundraiser tickets cost $40 plus fees and include a copy of Colfer’s book, which he will autograph following the talk. Colfer has won a Golden Globe and received Emmy and SAG Award nominations for his television work, and has authored 20 books including the No. 1 New York Times bestselling series “The Land of Stories.”
“The Foundation is focused on providing long term financial support to the library, and to do our part to contribute to the cultural enrichment of our community,” said Bill Wylie, president of the Palm Springs Public Library Foundation. “We are excited that the library renovation has begun and as we look forward to eventual completion, we hope to be able to make our contributions to our community through programs like Pride on the Page!”
Community supporters include the Palm Springs Public Library, City of Palm Springs, Palm Springs Cultural Center, The Best Bookstore in Palm Springs, Hilton Palm Springs, Palm Mountain Resort, Saguaro Hotel, Gays Reading Podcast, CV Independent and The Standard.
