5th annual Pride on the Page festival returning to Palm Springs, free to all ⋆ The Palm Springs Post

Mark your calendars now, because the Palm Springs Public Library Foundation will host the fifth annual Pride on the Page Book Festival on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Palm Springs Cultural Center, with admission free for the first time to every part of the event, including an evening reception.

The festival, first held in 2022, brings together LGBTQ+ authors, readers and allies for panel discussions and community events.

This year’s theme, “Five Years of Pride on the Page: Our Lives, Our Words, Our Stories,” will spotlight memoirs and personal narratives from across the LGBTQ+ community.

“This festival is about creating a welcoming space where people can discover great books, hear remarkable stories and connect through conversations,” said Julie Warren, co-creator of Pride on the Page and library services and public relations manager of the Palm Springs Public Library.

More than 150 LGBTQ+ and affirming authors and moderators have appeared at the festival since it began, according to organizers, who said this year’s lineup will again include nationally recognized writers alongside local authors, publishers and community organizations.

“It’s been exciting to see how Pride on the Page has evolved and become a place where readers can engage with authors, explore different perspectives, and celebrate the power of stories that bring people together,” said Corey Roskin, co-creator and author coordinator for the festival and a Palm Springs Public Library Foundation board member.

Authors confirmed so far include Murray Hill, author of “Showbiz! My Life as a Middle-Aged Man”; Phill Branch, author of “The Double Dutch Fuss”; and Sandra Butler, author of “Now What? From the Frontline of Old Age,” who will appear in conversation with Daniel Jaffe, author of “Russian Silhouette: A Memoir of Activism and Identity.”

Organizers said additional authors, moderators and special guests will be announced in the coming months.

Festival activities will include author conversations, book signings and an outdoor tent featuring local authors, independent publishers, vendors and nonprofit organizations.

A limited number of books by each featured author will be given to attendees at individual presentations, while supplies last, and books will also be available for purchase throughout the day.

An evening program at the Cultural Center will include special guests and a reception marking the festival’s fifth anniversary, with further details to be announced.

Registration through Eventbrite has not yet opened. Organizers said the full schedule and additional author announcements will be released in the coming months, with updates posted at this website.
