This week: Palm Springs boards to review housing project, historic designation, library budget
Architectural Review, Historic Preservation and Library boards meet this week, with one other meeting possible on Thursday.

Development, historic preservation and library funding are on the agenda this week as three Palm Springs boards convene at City Hall, with a fourth meeting possible.
The Architectural Review Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday to consider a proposal to build eight detached single-family homes on a 2.53-acre vacant site at 2700 East Alejo Road.

The project, proposed by Sister City Investments Inc. and called “Pueo Palm Springs,” requires major architectural review approval. Committee members are being asked to accept a previously adopted mitigated negative declaration under the California Environmental Quality Act and approve the project subject to conditions.
The Historic Site Preservation Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and is scheduled to hold a public hearing on an application by Dezart Performs to designate the First Church of Christ Scientist at 605 South Riverside Drive as a Class 1 historic site.
If approved, the board would adopt a resolution recommending that the City Council formally designate the property as a Class 1 historic resource. The action would also include a determination under the California Environmental Quality Act that the designation is not considered a project.
Board members will also consider a request involving a Class 3 property at 877 Panorama Road, where the applicant is seeking a major alteration. Staff is recommending a 120-day stay to allow processing of a potential re-designation to a higher historic classification.
In addition, the board will review a demolition request for a Class 4 site at 1481 San Jacinto Way. Staff is recommending that the board take no action to halt processing of the application and determine that the matter is not a project under state environmental law.
The Library Board of Trustees will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Trustees are expected to receive a mid-year progress report from the Palm Springs Public Library Foundation and discuss the library’s current budget status, including whether to form a fiscal year 2026-27 ad hoc budget subcommittee.
The board will also discuss library renovation updates and select volunteers for a nominating committee for officer elections later this year.
A regularly scheduled Public Arts Commission meeting could take place at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, though no agenda had been posted as of Sunday.
All meetings are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in the Large Conference Room at City Hall, 3200 East Tahquitz Canyon Way, and are open to the public, with remote participation options available.
