The Evolution of Human Rights in Palm Springs

April 6, 2022 @ 5:30 pm

This historical perspective includes a timeline illustrating the complex layers of decisions made by the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, a sovereign nation, in conjunction with the United States Federal government, the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the State of California. Discover how these choices affected the development of the City of Palm Springs and the historical facts surrounding Section 14 in the middle of the 20th century.

The presentation will focus on the barriers that kept many people from achieving success and prosperity due to income, race, religion, and sexual orientation.

A question and answer session will follow the talk.

The event is free.
