With the tragic loss of Ireland’s census records in 1922 during the civil war, genealogists turn to alternate sources for family history information. The huge tax assessment project of the entire country, undertaken by Richard Griffith during the period from 1830 to 1865, produced over 30,000 documents. One collection, the Name Books, provide some fascinating insights into the lives, times, history and locations for that period. This presentation describes the valuation process and how to access the Name Books with numerous examples.
